DIY: Overall shorts (or shortalls)

I decided to cut my overalls into shorts for the upcoming summer weather (which I've been lucky enough to get a hint of).
It was actually pretty easy cutting them, except in my first try I made them a bit too long and they looked kinda funny.
The first step in trying them on and making a rough estimate on where you'd like the shorts to hit and then compensating enough room for the cuffs. I usually go a couple of inches past where I'd like the cuffs to hit.
Then to make sure you cut in a straight line, use a Sharpie to draw a line across the leg. Then you can cut. You're actually not supposed to cut through two layers of fabric at a time because the lines won't match up, but I'm too lazy for that.
When you've finished with both legs, cuff the pants once or twice depending on how you'd prefer it. Then iron the cuffs (one at a time if you've cuffed twice) and you're finished.
Below are pictures of the different steps.
